Lifesavers for Landlords Looks at What You Should Expect of Tenants & Garden Care.

Should You Expect My Tenant To Keep The Garden Tidy?

YES! But you need to make it  easy for them to maintain.


Gardens can be time stealers. Many tenants want to have a garden, but may not have the time to keep it as you would like.

Set the garden up as you would like it maintained. Here a few easy steps to for you to follow:

  • Fill in any ponds & remove any water features. These take time to clean & maintain. Open water also creates potential hazard areas.

  • Limit borders & only plant easy maintenance plants or be prepared that you may lose them. 

  • Remove decking unless it is non slip composite decking, a patio area is easier to maintain, cleaner & presents less hazards. 

  • If you have a lawn you should provide a storage area & provide a lawnmower.
